Description
This jewellery item features a Derbyshire Blue John cabochon pendant suspended from a 925 silver chain. The pendant contains a square cushion-cut Blue John stone, displaying the characteristic deep purple banding and creamy-yellow matrix of the mineral. The stone is held in a 925 silver bezel setting with a tapered bail. The accompanying 925 silver chain is a woven spiga or wheat-link style with a square profile. Small hallmarks are present on the reverse of the bail but are not clearly legible.
Condition report:
The necklace is in good overall condition. The Blue John gemstone exhibits natural internal structure, colour zoning, and surface-reaching fissures inherent to this mineral species. The 925 silver shows light surface scratches and minor tarnishing consistent with handling.
