Lot 216:
Description
This collection of fraternal regalia belongs to the Independent Order of Loyal Orangewomen (I.O.L.G.), a women’s auxiliary of the Orange Order. The grouping is primarily associated with Glade No. 184 and Fair City Glade No. 684, with the latter referring to the city of Perth, Scotland. Several pieces are personally named to Amy Johnson, with other pins bearing the names Fay and Heather. The lot includes multiple textile sashes in purple and maroon with gold-tone bullion embroidery. A purple sash is inscribed O.L.G. D.O.M. AMY JOHNSON GLADE No. 184. Maroon sashes feature inscriptions including PRIMA and FAIR CITY GLADE No. 684, some finished with gold-tone fringe. The accompanying jewellery and medals include a star-shaped Prima degree medal in red enamel; a circular gold-tone medal for the Daughters of Miriam (D.O.M.) featuring a fylfot symbol and a central green enamel shamrock; a Maltese-style cross commemorating the 130th anniversary of the I.O.L.G. and the 2012 Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, featuring a relief bust of the monarch; and an 80th anniversary shield-shaped medal. The items are constructed from silk or synthetic fabrics, gold-tone base metal, and enamel.
Condition report:
The collection is in good used condition. Metal components show visible surface tarnish and light oxidation consistent with age. Enamel remains largely intact across the medals. The textile sashes show minor wear, light creasing, and occasional fraying to the edges. The bullion embroidery is well-preserved with some slight dulling to the gold-tone threads.
