Description
A lidded trinket or jewellery box constructed from tinned sheet metal, also referred to as white metal. The exterior surfaces are decorated with hand-punched motifs in a traditional folk-art style, featuring heart designs, stylized floral elements, and dotted borders. The box is built with folded edges and secured with visible pins or rivets. The interior is lined with a dark textile material over a dark-toned wood frame. It is accompanied by a functional metal key decorated with a black and gold cord tassel. The craftsmanship is consistent with traditional Mexican hojalata tinware techniques.
Condition report:
The box is in good vintage condition. The white metal surfaces show a natural aged patina with areas of tarnishing and minor surface scratches consistent with age. There is slight wear to the interior lining. The key and tassel are present, with the tassel showing minor wear to the threads.
