Description

A porcelain lidded ginger jar of hexagonal faceted baluster form. The jar is surmounted by a matching domed lid featuring a pointed finial finished in gilt. The piece is crafted from fine white porcelain and decorated in the traditional Imari palette, comprising underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron red enamel, and heavy gilt detailing. The body is divided into six faceted panels, with two primary central reserves depicting stylised floral arrangements of chrysanthemums and carnations set within a blue and gold vase. These panels are bordered by geometric brocade patterns and scrolling floral motifs. The shoulders, base, and lid are similarly decorated with interlocking patterns and floral vignettes. The decoration appears to be transfer-printed with hand-applied enamel and gilded highlights. No manufacturer marks are visible in the images provided.

Condition report:

The item appears to be in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The gilding and enamel decoration are well-preserved and show no significant signs of rubbing or surface wear.
