Description
Mercury commemorative coin cover produced in 1996 to mark the 65th anniversary of the Schneider Trophy victory. The cover features a Guernsey miniature sheet with a £2 denomination and a Royal Mail label depicting aircraft designer R.J. Mitchell and the Supermarine S.6B. The items are cancelled with pictorial 65th Anniversary Schneider Trophy Victory postmarks from the Guernsey Philatelic Bureau dated 13 September 1996. Centrally inset is an Isle of Man cupro-nickel 1 Crown coin from the Aircraft of World War II series, featuring the Supermarine Spitfire. This item is part of a limited edition of 4,000 and bears the serial number 1886. It is presented on its original illustrated descriptive card mount.
Condition report:
The item is in fine condition. The coin is bright with no visible toning or handling marks. The cover and presentation card are clean and free from creases, tears, or foxing.
