Description
Westminster commemorative coin cover issued to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1966 World Cup victory. The cover features a 1966 4d England Winners stamp alongside the complete 1996 Football Legends set comprising the 19p Dixie Dean, 25p Bobby Moore, 30p Duncan Edwards, 41p Billy Wright, and 60p Danny Blanchflower issues. All stamps are cancelled with special circular date stamps for Wembley, Middlesex, dated 30 July 1996, inscribed England World Cup Winners 30th Anniversary. The assembly incorporates a 1996 United Kingdom two pound commemorative coin featuring a stylised football design and the year date. The card mount indicates an edition limit of 5,000 and bears the serial number M 2865. Produced for Westminster, Mercury: PO Box 5, Watford.
Condition report:
The stamps are well-centred with clean and legible circular date stamp cancellations. The commemorative two pound coin remains bright and is securely held within its mount. The outer card mount shows very light handling wear and minor toning consistent with age, particularly at the extreme edges. The protective sleeve is intact and free from significant creases or staining.
