Description

This lot comprises three pieces of Staffordshire earthenware manufactured by Myott, Son & Co. Ltd. The collection includes two circular dinner plates and one oval serving platter, all featuring scalloped rims. The decoration consists of sepia-toned transfer-printed scenes with hand-applied permanent colours in red, green, yellow, and blue. The two dinner plates feature the Royal Mail pattern, depicting a traditional English stagecoach arriving at a half-timbered inn. The oval platter features The Hunter pattern, showing a rural scene with a hunter and his dog in the foreground and a village inn titled The Swan in the background. The bases of the dinner plates bear a black printed mark with the text MYOTT ROYAL MAIL, a stagecoach illustration, and the inscription A GENUINE HAND ENGRAVING FINE STAFFORDSHIRE WARE WITH ALL PERMANENT COLOURS MADE IN ENGLAND. Small hand-painted red characters are also present. The platter base features a foliate-bordered mark reading THE HUNTER by MYOTT with an illustration of a man and dog, and the text HAND ENGRAVED PERMANENT COLOURS MADE IN ENGLAND, accompanied by a hand-painted green character.

Circular Plates: Diameter 25.5 cm
