Description

This collection consists of approximately 20 antique and vintage glass bottles and jars, primarily of pharmaceutical, apothecary, and domestic origin. The items are constructed from mold-blown and machine-made glass, featuring various finishes including applied lips for cork closures and threaded necks for screw caps. The colour palette is predominantly clear (flint) and aqua glass, with single examples in amber and emerald green. Forms include rectangular essence bottles, cylindrical apothecary jars, a vertically ribbed storage jar, and a small emerald green inkwell-style bottle. One amber bottle features a textured, diamond-patterned shoulder. Several pieces bear embossed markings, including CHESEBROUGH MFG CO VASELINE on a small clear jar, STONES on a clear rectangular bottle, and LINCS on a clear bottle. Other bottles feature embossed graduations or markings that are not clearly legible. The presence of the Lincolnshire marking suggests a British origin, typical of late 19th to early 20th-century production.

Condition report:

The items are in as found condition. Many pieces exhibit internal and external surface clouding, patination, and dirt residue consistent with age and possible excavation. There are no large cracks or major repairs visible, though minor surface scratches and flea bite nicks to the rims are present throughout the lot.
