Description
1955 (Anno MCMLV) Vatican City official mint set. This collection was issued during the seventeenth year of the pontificate of Pope Pius XII, as indicated by the inscription PIVS XII P.M. AN. XVII. The set comprises several denominations including L.1, L.2, L.5, L.10, L.50, and L.100. All coins are struck in 925 silver. The obverses of the L.5, L.10, L.50, and L.100 denominations feature the portrait of Pope Pius XII, while the L.1 and L.2 denominations depict the papal coat of arms. The reverses bear the legend CITTA DEL VATICANO and the date 1955, accompanied by allegorical figures representing the virtues of Fortitudo, Ivstitia, Temperantia, Fides, Prvdentia, and Spes. The coins are housed in the original red pebbled-texture presentation card with gold-foil lettering reading ANNO MCMLV.
Condition report:
The coins are in brilliant uncirculated condition, exhibiting sharp details and bright mint lustre. The red presentation card shows minor shelf wear and some creasing to the clear protective film.
