Description
An assortment of small collectibles and trinkets contained within a vintage C.W.S. (Co-operative Wholesale Society) Rich Devon Cream Caramels metal confectionery tin. The exterior of the tin features a lithographed pictorial lid depicting cows in a rural landscape with text reading The CREAMIEST CONFECTION and Absolutely Pure. The interior of the lid is fitted with a colourful enamelled metal plaque or magnet depicting London iconography, including a double-decker bus, a black taxi, and Big Ben. The contents include several British pre-decimal coins, notably a brass threepence dated in the 1940s. Jewellery items comprise a gold-tone dolphin brooch set with clear rhinestones, a silver-tone openwork filigree ring, and a silver-tone shovel-shaped pendant attached to a chain with a tag marked 925. Additional items include a miniature oval-framed embroidery of pansies, enamelled souvenir pieces such as a Cleethorpes spoon handle, and red circular tags marked Florists.
Condition report:
The metal tin shows surface wear, scratches, and areas of oxidation consistent with age and use. The internal plaque and various collectibles exhibit minor surface wear and tarnishing. The contents are loose within the tin.
