A British Army ceremonial dress set associated with the Royal Corps of Signals. The lot comprises a white web belt and an L3A1 socket bayonet with a matching frog. The belt is fitted with a polished chrome-finish rectangular buckle featuring a centrally mounted bimetal insignia. This insignia depicts the figure of Mercury, known as Jimmy, standing upon a globe and surmounted by a St Edward’s Crown. The base of the insignia features a scroll with the raised motto Certa Cito. The L3A1 socket bayonet, designed for the SA80 rifle series, features a black ribbed synthetic grip with a spring-loaded catch. The bowie-style blade is designed with a wire-cutter notch and a partially serrated edge. The bayonet is housed in a white web ceremonial frog with a brass-tone metal throat fitting.
Belt length: Approximately 100cm (adjustable)
Bayonet overall length: Approximately 280mm.
Condition report:
The set is in good used condition. The white webbing shows minor signs of handling and light surface soiling consistent with parade use. The polished buckle face exhibits moderate surface scratching and swirl marks from cleaning. The bayonet hilt and blade show minor wear to the finish from insertion into the frog. All fittings and the belt adjustment mechanism are functional.
