Description
A pair of philatelic numismatic covers issued by Mercury to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2002). The covers feature illustrations by artist Michael Noakes and are franked with Isle of Man postage stamps, including 24p and 45p denominations. Each cover bears a circular 100 days countdown postmark from Douglas, dated 29/10/01. One cover contains a silver-coloured commemorative coin with a proof-like finish and mirrored fields, featuring a profile portrait of the Queen. The second cover contains a larger gold-coloured commemorative coin depicting the Queen on horseback. Both coins bear the legend THE GOLDEN JUBILEE. The items are individually numbered with serials 3762 and 1871 and are housed in their original decorative presentation folders.
Condition report:
Excellent, as-issued condition. The paper remains crisp with no signs of foxing or handling wear. The coins are well-preserved within their protective sleeves, showing no visible signs of tarnishing or environmental damage.
