Description
A pair of Isle of Man Coin First Day Covers issued by Mercury, Watford, commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2002). Each cover features an Isle of Man postage stamp (one 39p and one 40p) with a black circular postmark from Douglas, Isle of Man, dated 29/10/01, marking the 100 days countdown to the jubilee year. The covers are illustrated with sketches by artist Michael Noakes from The Daily Life of the Queen: An Artist’s Diary. The pair comprises two crown-sized silver-coloured coins. One coin (serial M 3346) features a ceremonial figure design with a proof finish. The second coin (serial M 3711) features a portrait design with a brilliant uncirculated lustre. Both coins bear the legend THE GOLDEN JUBILEE.
Condition report:
The coins and covers are in original, as-issued condition. The proof coin displays a mirror-like finish, and the second coin retains a brilliant uncirculated lustre. The covers show no evidence of creasing, staining, or edge wear.
