Description

UK bronze one penny dated 1882. The obverse features the Bun Head portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, surrounded by the legend VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:. The reverse depicts a seated Britannia facing right, holding a trident and shield, with the legend ONE PENNY and the date 1882 in the exergue. A small H mint mark is visible below the date, indicating the coin was struck at the Heaton Mint in Birmingham. This issue was produced to supplement the output of the Royal Mint.

Condition report:

Heavily circulated. The coin shows significant wear across all high points, with the details of the Queen\'s portrait and the figure of Britannia largely smoothed. The surfaces display a dark, uneven brown patina with numerous marks, scratches, and abrasions consistent with extensive use in commerce. The coin is housed in a non-professional 2x2 cardboard flip.
