Description
A numismatic and philatelic commemorative display titled John F. Kennedy Coin-Package Collection, issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of President Kennedy. The lot comprises a pair of Kennedy Half Dollars and a commemorative postage stamp. The first coin is a 1776-1976 S Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollar, exhibiting a proof finish with mirrored fields and frosted devices. The second coin is a 2013 D Kennedy Half Dollar in uncirculated condition. The philatelic component is a US 5-cent memorial postage stamp featuring the eternal flame and the legend AND THE GLOW FROM THAT FIRE CAN TRULY LIGHT THE WORLD. The items are housed in a blue, star-patterned card folder illustrated with historical photographs and quotes, including the Peace Corps logo, a Saturn V rocket launch, and a reproduction of the Chicago Tribune headline from 22 November 1963. The coins are silver-coloured in appearance.
Condition report:
The coins are in high-grade proof and uncirculated conditions respectively. The postage stamp is intact and appears as issued. The cardstock presentation folder shows minor signs of shelf wear, including light scuffing at the corners and edges.
