Description
A collection of assorted walking sticks and canes presented in a cylindrical brass vessel. The vessel is constructed from a large-calibre artillery shell casing, featuring a hand-hammered texture to the body, a flared stepped base, and a plain top rim secured with visible studs. The walking sticks comprise various wooden shafts, including examples in ash, hazel, and bamboo. Handle forms include multiple carved crooks, a large T-shaped handle, and a turned wooden handle. One modern telescopic cane is included, featuring an aluminium shaft with a purple floral decorative pattern. No manufacturer marks, silver hallmarks, or internal system features are visible on the items. A small white adhesive label with the printed characters 778 is attached to the flared base of the vessel.
Condition report:
The collection is in used condition consistent with age. The wooden shafts exhibit scuffing, loss of varnish, and general wear from use. The brass vessel shows a natural aged patina with areas of minor oxidation and surface marks.
