Description

An assortment of five walking sticks and canes of various styles and materials, including wood and bamboo. The collection features a dark-stained wood walking stick with a crook handle and a smooth finish showing visible growth rings, possibly malacca. Also included is a light-coloured wood stick, possibly ash or chestnut, with an integrated crook handle and natural grain. A segmented bamboo walking stick is present, featuring a crook handle and a decorative textured terminal cap with a repeating bossed pattern. Another stick is constructed from light-coloured wood with a prominent vertical grain, possibly oak or ash, featuring a carved knob handle with geometric star motifs and a polished metal collar; the presence of the collar suggests a possible system cane feature, such as a concealed measuring gauge or screw-off top, though this is unconfirmed. The final item consists of a natural wood shaft with a darker wood sleeve and a large bulbous turned wooden knob handle with a polished finish. Marks are present on the metal collar of the carved stick but are not clearly legible.

Condition report:

All items are in used condition with surface wear, scratches, and patina consistent with age and functional use. The dark-stained stick shows minor surface abrasions and a small area of white adhesive residue near the top. The light wood stick shows darkening and patina to the crook handle. The bamboo stick exhibits significant weathering and age-related wear to the surface. The carved knob stick and the turned knob stick both show minor signs of wear. Small labels or adhesive residues are present on some shafts. No significant structural damage is immediately apparent.
