Description
This collection comprises an assortment of walking sticks and canes featuring various materials and decorative styles. The first item is a lightweight walking cane with a segmented bamboo shaft, topped with a turned mushroom-shaped wooden handle and a metal collar. The second item is a decorative wooden walking stick with a Derby-style L-shaped handle, featuring a shaft worked with a continuous spiral-carved pattern and intricate cross-hatched textured panels, in the style of Brazos walking sticks. The third item is a slender wooden walking stick with an integrated handle formed from the natural growth of the wood, showing natural knots and a dark-stained, polished finish. The final item is a contemporary souvenir walking stick from The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall, crafted from an undulating piece of light-coloured wood. This stick is fitted with a shield-shaped badge featuring a palm tree graphic and the text The Lost Gardens of Heligan, as well as a rectangular brass-toned plate etched with Heligan in cursive script.
Condition report:
The items are in good overall condition, showing typical surface wear, light scratches, and patina consistent with age and practical use. The bamboo cane is fitted with a modern replacement rubber ferrule. No structural cracks or significant damage are visible.
