Description

This collection of Victorian horological items includes a sterling silver open-face key-wind pocket watch and a sterling silver curb-link Albert chain. The pocket watch features a white enamel dial with Roman numeral indices, a subsidiary seconds dial at the six o’clock position, and spade-style hands. The case is struck with Birmingham hallmarks, including a date letter for approximately 1897 and the maker’s mark WE. The accompanying Albert chain is fitted with a T-bar and a swivel clasp. Attached to the chain is a corroded metal watch key and a silver Victorian coin depicting the Jubilee head portrait with the Latin inscription VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITT: REGINA F: D:. The items are primarily constructed of sterling silver with a glass crystal and enamel dial.

Condition report:

The items exhibit wear consistent with age and use. There is visible surface oxidation and tarnishing across the silver components. Scratches are present on the metalwork and the watch crystal. The metal watch key shows significant corrosion.
