Description
A set of glazed ceramic piggy banks produced by Wade England for National Westminster Bank. The collection features anthropomorphic figures representing a family in various outfits, including the father figure Sir Nathaniel Westminster in a black tuxedo with a red bow tie, alongside other figures in skirts, blouses, and shorts, as well as a seated baby pig with a safety pin nappy. Each figure is constructed with a coin slot to the reverse. The bases are marked with WADE ENGLAND in relief. Some examples retain their original black plastic stoppers embossed with the NatWest logo.
Condition report:
The collection shows varying signs of age and wear. One figure, wearing a green skirt and white blouse, has a significant horizontal crack across the head. Some figures are missing their original plastic stoppers. General surface wear and minor glaze imperfections consistent with age.
