Description
A carved oak dresser and plate rack in the Jacobean Revival style. The tiered upper section features three shelves beneath a carved lunette frieze. The base comprises three central drawers flanked by two cupboard doors. The doors are decorated with deeply carved relief panels depicting heraldic motifs, including a central shield and mythical creatures. A carved banner bears the Latin motto Fide Constans. The unit is finished with geometric strapwork moulding and is supported by turned bun feet joined by a stretcher. The drawers are fitted with metal ring-pull hardware. The piece is primarily of oak construction. Also included is a collection of novelty ceramic teapots, including one modelled as a fireplace with a cat and another as a sofa with figures.
Condition report:
The dresser is structurally sound with minor scuffs and surface wear to the finish consistent with age and use. The ceramic teapots show minor surface marks and wear.
