Lot 357:
Description
A collection of numismatic items and small jewellery pieces presented within a rectangular carved wooden box. The box features a sliding lid secured by a patinated metal latch and is decorated with a carved foliate pattern along the sides. The numismatic portion of the lot includes various British and Commonwealth coins in copper-toned and silver-toned metals. Identifiable pieces include a 1927 UK penny depicting a seated Britannia, a 1942 Australian shilling featuring a ram, and a 1980 Australian coin. Multiple coins bear the effigy of King George VI. Accompanying the coins are two small items: a gold-toned leopard-head pin pavé-set with clear stones and a silver-toned charm fashioned as an adjustable wrench.
Condition report:
The coins are in circulated condition with visible wear, toning, and surface oxidation. The wooden box shows age-related wear and the metal latch is heavily patinated with signs of surface rust. The jewellery items show minor surface scratches and wear consistent with age.
