Description
A collection of copper-alloy coins and tokens, primarily UK and British Colonial issues. The group includes a British India one-quarter anna dated 1887, featuring a floral wreath reverse. Included is a George III copper coin dated 1806 with a laureate bust obverse. The lot contains a Princess Charlotte memorial type token, dated 6 November 1817, with a suspension hole. Several George III copper issues are present, including a Cartwheel type coin with a significant triangular segment removed and others featuring a Britannia reverse. One piece features an ornamental notched border and a worn central portrait. Visible legends on multiple items include GEORGIUS III D G REX. The 1797 Cartwheel issues represent the first British coins produced by steam-powered machinery at the Soho Mint.
Condition report:
Poor to fair. The items show significant circulation wear, smoothed surfaces, and heavy patination. Green verdigris is visible on several pieces. Physical damage is present, including a large triangular cut-out on one coin and a piercing to the memorial token.
