Description
A 925 silver pincushion box of circular form, attributed to Birks. The piece features a flared, hollow-form base with a polished finish. The domed lid is upholstered in a dark, woven fabric, designed to function as a pincushion. The hinged lid opens to reveal a small interior compartment lined with gold-toned gathered silk and finished with a coordinating braided cord trim. While visually consistent with known examples by the Canadian silversmith Birks, no hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible in the provided images.
Condition report:
The exterior cushion fabric shows visible wear and fading. The 925 silver base exhibits light surface scratching and minor tarnishing consistent with age and use. The interior silk lining shows slight age-related wear and minor fraying to the cord trim.
