Description

A collection of numismatic sets comprising UK and New Zealand coinage from the mid-to-late 20th century. The lot includes a UK pre-decimal and early decimal transition set presented in a black textured Midland Bank folder, containing eight coins including a 1967 Half Crown, 1965 Florin, and 1969 Ten New Pence, featuring the Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and various heraldic motifs on the reverse. Also present is a 1967 New Zealand decimal currency souvenir set, commemorating the changeover from pounds, shillings, and pence to decimal currency on 10 July 1967. This set is sealed in its original transparent partitioned plastic envelope as issued by the Royal Mint, London, and includes a commemorative One Dollar coin featuring the Ensigns Armorial of New Zealand with an incused edge inscription, alongside denominations from 50 cents down to 1 cent, accompanied by the original descriptive gatefold pamphlet. The collection is completed by a Coinage of Great Britain and Northern Ireland 1970 proof set, housed in the original purple textured presentation case with gold-leaf lettering, representing the final year of pre-decimal coin production.

Composition: Cupro-nickel, nickel-brass, and bronze.

Condition report:

Coins generally appear in uncirculated or proof-like condition as issued. Natural light toning is present on several specimens, particularly the bronze and brass issues. Minor storage wear, light scuffing, and edge wear are visible on the outer Midland Bank folder and the 1970 presentation case. The New Zealand set remains in its original factory-sealed plastic packaging.
