Lot 20:
Description
An Edwardian hinged bangle of wide, oval form, crafted from 925 silver with applied rose gold-coloured decorative elements. The front face of the bangle features hand-engraved foliate and floral scrolls, accented with applied rose gold leaf motifs, including designs resembling thistles. The reverse of the bangle is polished plain silver. The piece is constructed with a push-button box clasp and an integrated safety chain. The interior of the band is struck with a full set of British hallmarks for the Chester Assay Office, comprising the lion passant for sterling silver, the town mark of three wheat sheaves and a sword, and the date letter K corresponding to the year 1910. A separate maker’s mark JS is present, attributed to Joseph Smith and Sons.
Condition report:
The bangle is in good antique condition, exhibiting light surface wear and minor scratching consistent with age. There is some natural tarnishing visible within the recessed areas of the engraving. The hinge remains secure, the box clasp is fully functional, and the safety chain is intact.
