Description

A circular commemorative glass paperweight produced by Daphne Pain Paperweights of Wiltshire. The piece is constructed from clear cast glass with a deep cobalt blue base layer. The internal shoulder of the weight features blue and white swirling ribbon motifs. The upper surface is decorated with a sandblasted etched design depicting King Richard I and a lion. The face is inscribed in Gothic script with the text Richard I and Granted Doncaster The 1st Royal Charter 1194. The item is accompanied by its original red cardboard presentation box with a foam insert and a trade card for the maker.
