Lot 64:
Description
A hand-blown art glass vase of bottle form, featuring a bulbous, onion-shaped body transitioning into a long, cylindrical neck. The neck is accented with a single raised collar or ring toward the top, terminating in a wide, trumpet-flared rim. The vessel is crafted from deep amethyst glass, which appears nearly opaque in thicker sections. It features a dense internal decoration of white and grey speckled inclusions throughout the body, creating a mottled or galaxy-like effect. This decorative technique is most prominent on the lower half of the vessel. The irregular distribution of the speckling and the presence of small internal air bubbles, known as seeds, indicate a hand-blown manufacturing process. The piece is unattributed, as no maker marks or signatures are visible, though it is stylistically consistent with mid-century modern studio glass, potentially of British or Murano origin.
Condition report:
The vase is in good overall condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or significant surface abrasions. A few small internal air bubbles are present within the glass, which are natural occurrences in the hand-blowing process and are not considered defects.
