Description

A pair of pressed carnival glass bonbon dishes, also referred to as nappies, featuring a cobalt blue base glass treated with a heavy iridescent finish. The interior of each dish is decorated in high relief with the Fruits and Flowers pattern, specifically depicting three pears centred among serrated leaves and small blossoms. The exterior of the bowls features a detailed moulded basketweave or lattice design. Each vessel is formed with a single applied loop handle and a deeply ruffled rim with beaded edging, all supported by a low flared circular pedestal foot. This specific combination of the interior fruit motif and exterior basketweave is characteristic of production by the Northwood Glass Company circa 1910-1920, although no maker marks are visible on these examples.

Length: 155mm (approximately 6 inches) including handle.

Condition report:

Both items are in good professional condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The iridescent coating remains consistent and vibrant across both pieces, displaying a strong spectrum of metallic purple, blue, and gold tones.
