Description

This collection comprises eight UK provincial copper tokens and copper coinage, primarily dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The group includes several 18th-century Conder tokens: an Edinburgh halfpenny featuring the city arms shield with three towers, a Cronebane (Wicklow) halfpenny depicting a mitred bust of St Patrick, a 1793 Manchester halfpenny, and a 1793 Leeds halfpenny featuring the Mixed Cloth Hall. Other pieces include a 19th-century trade token for T. Jelly Grocer and Tea Dealer of Bath, an 1812 Sheffield halfpenny token from S. Hobson at Norfolk Row, and a George III 1797 cartwheel penny. The items are struck in copper or bronze-composition metal and are individually housed in circular plastic capsules.

Condition report:

The items exhibit varying states of wear consistent with circulation, ranging from fair to fine/very fine. Surfaces generally display a dark chocolate-brown patina with typical marks, minor pitting, and edge knocks. No professional third-party grading is present.
