A Buchan Thistleware rectangular stoneware serving platter, hand-painted in Scotland. The central motif features a purple Scottish thistle surrounded by bluebells and green foliage on a pale blue-grey glazed ground. The tray is bordered at the top and bottom with dark green horizontal bands. The reverse bears a brown backstamp for BUCHAN FINEST STONEWARE MADE IN SCOTLAND, alongside the alphanumeric code 231 14 B 8 and a handwritten mark resembling an S or 5.
