A dark-stained oak blanket chest or coffer, dating from the early 20th century and executed in a Jacobean Revival style. The hinged top lid features a simple wooden knob handle. The front panel is adorned with a carved arcading design incorporating vertical fluting. The ends of the chest each feature a large circular cut-out. Internally, the base is lined with a light-colored panel. No manufacturer’s marks or discernible text are visible on the object itself.
