Lot 444: A Framed Monochrome Print of Worksop Railway Station
A monochrome photographic print, presented as a modern digital lithographic reproduction of a historical scene. The image depicts a steam locomotive arriving at Worksop railway station in Nottinghamshire. The composition shows the train on the tracks emitting steam, with passengers standing on the platform and a pedestrian footbridge spanning the rails in the background. A young boy is positioned in the lower-left foreground facing away from the camera. The station name is legibly printed on nameboards located under the platform awning and on a post-mounted sign, both reading WORKSOP. The print is housed behind glass in a dark wood-effect frame featuring a gilded inner slip. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the print or the frame. Above the framed image is a separate header board with the partially visible gilded text CARS – MOTORCYCLES.
Condition report:
The print appears in good overall condition with no visible creases, tears, or significant foxing. The mount shows slight yellowing to the edges. The glazed frame has minor scuffing and small surface losses to the edges and corners (photo 1). The header board is securely attached above the frame.
