Lot 439: A Mid-20th Century West German Longcase Clock

A mid-20th century longcase clock featuring a wooden case with a broken arch pediment and a central finial depicting an eagle perched upon a sphere. The hood is fitted with a glazed door enclosing a decorative dial plate with an etched foliate centre and openwork scroll spandrels. The chapter ring is finished with black Roman numerals for hours and Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals. Above the main dial is a moon phase complication with a rotating disc showing starry skies and hemispherical world maps, beneath a scale numbered 1 to 29 1/2.
