This lot comprises two commemorative items: a 10-ounce copper bullion bar and a boxed commemorative medallion. The copper bullion bar is of rectangular ingot form, featuring a textured obverse with horizontal lines and a central shield device containing the letters SI within a laurel wreath, above a banner reading BULLION. The center is struck 10 OZ and the base is struck 999 FINE COPPER. The commemorative medallion is of circular form and is presented in a red velvet-lined wooden case. The obverse features the central logo for the CHINA SHIPPING (GROUP) COMPANY, with the legend CHINA SHIPPING (GROUP) COMPANY and corresponding Chinese characters. The reverse depicts a floating dock with the technical dimensions 410M X 82M X 28M and the legend 2008. 9. 28. A certificate of authenticity from the Shanghai Mint is included, bearing the characters 上海造幣廠. The wooden presentation case lid is printed with the company logo and the date 2008. 9. 28. No other maker’s marks or labels are visible on the items.
Condition report:
The copper bullion bar is housed in a clear protective plastic sleeve and exhibits no visible surface faults. The medallion shows significant golden-brown toning and tarnish around the outer edges of the obverse and reverse (photos 3 and 5), visible through its clear protective capsule. The wooden presentation case and red velvet interior show no signs of structural damage or significant wear. The medallion is supplied in a protective capsule within its original presentation box with a certificate.
