Lot 333: A Set of Six Narex Mortise Woodworking Chisels

This lot comprises a set of six mortise chisels, each featuring a polished steel blade and a dark-stained wooden handle fitted with a brass ferrule and a steel hoop at the pommel. The chisels are presented in a simple wooden storage rack with circular apertures. The handles are printed in silver lettering with the manufacturer’s logo NAREX and the legend MADE IN CZECH REPUBLIC. The blades are struck with the maker’s name, width, and model series information. The inscriptions on the blades are as follows: NAREX 4 8882 54, NAREX 5 8882 55, NAREX 6 CZECH REPUBLIC 8882 56, NAREX 8 8882 58, NAREX 10 8882 60, and NAREX 12 CZECH REPUBLIC 8882 62. The set provides a graduation of widths from 4mm to 12mm.
Condition report:
The chisels show signs of light use and workshop storage. The steel blades exhibit surface oxidation, light spotting, and remnants of protective factory lacquer (photo 1). The wooden handles show minor indentations and wear to the finish, particularly to the steel hoops at the pommel which display contact marks from mallet strikes. The cutting edges appear previously honed. No original box or packaging is present.
