Lot 228: A 1993 Birmingham Sterling Silver Trinket Box
Sold for: £50
A late 20th-century sterling silver trinket box of circular form with a pull-off lid. The lid is decorated with a central circular medallion featuring a cast trefoil arrangement of three interconnected thistles and foliate scrolls in a Celtic-inspired style. The remainder of the lid and the base are finished with a plain polished surface. The interior of the lid shows the concave reverse of the decorative pressing. Four hallmark punches are struck to the lid surface: a maker’s mark consisting of the characters RC in a hexagonal cartouche; an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office; a lion passant for sterling silver; and a capital letter T in a clipped square shield for the year 1993.
