Lot 210: A London Hallmarked Sterling Silver Elephant Pin Cushion
Sold for: £65
A vintage sterling silver pin cushion, modeled in the form of a standing elephant with its trunk curled downwards. The hollow-cast body features a recessed circular opening at the top, fitted with a dark blue velvet cushion. The silver casing is detailed with textured skin and large ears. A horizontal row of four hallmarks is struck on the elephant’s left flank. The marks include the initials SJ followed by an unreadable character, a lion passant for sterling silver, a leopard’s head for the London assay office, and a lowercase date letter in a shaped shield. Two further unreadable punches are present vertically below this row.
