Lot 369: TBL Mint Mythology Series 5 Ounce Copper Round, Poseidon

A square copper round from the TBL Mint Mythology Series, featuring a high-relief and multi-coloured depiction of the Greek god Poseidon. The obverse shows the deity standing amid turbulent waves, holding a three-pronged trident in his right hand and a swirling vortex of water in his left. The design is set against a background featuring a globe, a winged celestial figure, a Greek temple, and a nautical wheel. Arched across the top is the legend POSEIDON. The reverse is finished in polished copper with a central decorative laurel wreath framing an image of a temple. Surrounding the wreath are depictions of Pegasus, Zeus holding a thunderbolt, Athena with an owl-decorated shield, and a trident rising from the sea. The reverse bears the struck inscriptions TBL MINT, MYTHOLOGY SERIES, 5 AVDP OUNCES, and FINE COPPER. The piece is bordered by a continuous Greek key pattern and is housed in a clear acrylic protective square capsule.
