Lot 352: A Zippo Benson and Hedges Advertising Lighter with Presentation Tin

A windproof lighter of rectangular form, featuring a brushed finish. The front of the case is decorated with an embossed central cartouche containing the letters B and H in a stylised serif font. The lighter is held within a black plastic retail display insert, which is marked ZIPPO U.S.A. LIGHTER at the top and LIFETIME GUARANTEE at the base. The accompanying rectangular metal presentation tin features a gold-toned rim and a black lid printed with a repeating pattern of white text reading MADE IN THE USA and LIFETIME GUARANTEE. The lid is further detailed with the red text AN AMERICAN CLASSIC and a large silver ZIPPO logo incorporating a red flame graphic. The interior of the lid contains a printed diagram illustrating the internal components of the lighter. A printed paper warning insert is visible within the plastic display stand behind the lighter. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The metal casing of the lighter shows significant surface wear, including widespread oxidation, pitting, and numerous fine surface scratches throughout the front and rear panels. The lid of the presentation tin exhibits minor edge wear and light surface abrasions to the printed design. The interior of the tin displays some scuffing consistent with use. The plastic display insert appears intact. Functionality has not been tested. Original presentation tin and plastic display stand are included.
