Lot 34: A Composite Countertop Section and a Riven Stone Paving Slab
Not sold
This lot comprises two salvaged architectural elements. The first is a contemporary L-shaped countertop section featuring a rectangular cutout, likely intended for a sink or basin. The surface is polished and dark in colour with a mottled appearance. The underside is unpolished and shows a light-coloured core material. The second item is a rectangular paving slab featuring a natural riven surface. The stone displays a textured, layered face with varying shades of grey and tan, and is finished with roughly hewn edges. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on either item.
Condition report:
The countertop section shows significant surface accumulation of dirt and dust (photo 1). Scuffing and light surface scratches are visible across the polished face. There is noticeable chipping and irregularity along the interior edges of the rectangular cutout, and the outer edges appear unfinished or fractured from a larger piece. The paving slab shows natural surface variations consistent with its riven finish. There is evidence of biological growth, including lichen and soil staining, across the face and along the edges (photo 2). Both items show signs of outdoor storage.
