Lot 32: A Set of Six Roemer Wine Glasses with Gilt Decoration
Sold for: £9
A set of six Roemer wine glasses, each featuring a clear glass bowl of rounded form. The bowls are decorated with a continuous gilt band depicting grapevines and leaves, applied to the exterior surface. Each glass is supported by an olive green glass stem of beehive form, constructed with a continuous horizontal ribbed or coiled texture that tapers towards a circular, slightly domed foot. This traditional Rhine glass form combines the two-tone clear and green glass typical of the style. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
Condition report:
The set is in good vintage condition. The gilt decoration shows some light thinning and surface wear to the leaf motifs, consistent with age and handling. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible to the rims, bowls, stems, or feet.
