Lot 293: A Pair of Il Verrocchio Florence Italian Ceramic Stemmed Chalices

This lot comprises a pair of ceramic stemmed chalices, each featuring a wide, flaring rim, a cylindrical body with a stepped shoulder, and a pedestal foot with a flared base. The items are finished in a deep burgundy glaze with a lustrous gloss. The central body is decorated with a continuous horizontal band of interlocking, stylised ovoid shapes executed in gold-tone and black, reminiscent of Art Deco motifs. The upper rims and the edges of the bases are finished with a gilt trim. The underside of each base features a circular white printed mark consisting of a stylised graphic symbol resembling a letter M or a crown at the centre, surrounded by the text IL – VERROCCHIO – FLORENCE – ITALY. A narrow ring of unglazed terracotta-coloured ceramic is visible on the foot rim. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
