An English sterling silver signet ring of rectangular form with rounded corners, featuring a distinctive feature hallmark design on the flat face. The shoulders and shank are decorated with a textured, openwork bark finish. The face of the ring bears four struck hallmark punches: the maker’s mark GMC in a shaped cartouche, a square cartouche with clipped corners containing an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, a rectangular cartouche containing a passant lion denoting sterling silver, and a square cartouche with clipped corners containing the lowercase letter g for the year 1977. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
