Lot 154: Heather Burton, An Impasto Oil Painting of a European Canal Scene

An oil painting by Heather Burton, executed in a heavy impasto technique with a palette knife and stiff brushes to create a high degree of texture. The work depicts a European architectural scene featuring a stone building, a timbered structure with red-tiled roofs, and a stone bridge spanning a canal. A church tower is visible in the background against a pale sky. The composition is rendered in a naive style with a palette dominated by browns, ochres, and whites. The work is executed on a Winsor & Newton canvas board, with a white rectangular adhesive label to the verso reading WINSOR & NEWTON / COLOURMAN CANVAS / 0104. The painting is signed vertically in the lower right corner in white block letters HEATHER BURTON. It is housed in a polished, multi-tiered dark wood frame with a reddish hue.
