Lot 145: A Complete Thirty-Two Piece Metal Staunton Style Chess Set and Board

A complete set of thirty-two chess pieces with a coordinated wooden board. Each piece is constructed from metal with a two-tone finish, one side featuring a brushed silver appearance and the opposing side a dark brass-toned finish. The pieces are weighted and follow a traditional figurative form: the kings feature a cross finial, the queens a crenellated crown, the bishops a cleft mitre, and the knights a detailed horse’s head with a textured bridle and mane. All pieces are mounted on turned, ringed bases with red felt pads applied to the undersides. The set is housed in a red plastic insert tray within a cardboard box. The accompanying wooden board features light and dark wood veneer squares within a dark-stained wood border. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the pieces or the board.
