Lot 140: A Metal Agricultural Wheel with Heavy Circular Hub

A large agricultural metal wheel, featuring a flat-rimmed tire joined to a central hub by twelve radiating spokes of circular cross-section. Reconditioned with a thick gloss black finish, the wheel displays a pronounced surface texture from historical oxidation and casting irregularities. The central hub is of substantial construction, secured with heavy-duty hexagonal bolts and featuring a protruding cylindrical axle sleeve. A circular arrangement of embossed characters is present on the outer face of the hub; however, these markings are heavily obscured by layers of coating and are not legible. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The wheel shows evidence of significant historical outdoor exposure with pitting and corrosion textures visible beneath the painted surface (photo 1). The black coating is applied thickly across all components. Small chips to the paint revealing the underlying metal are visible on the outer edge of the rim (photo 3). The structure remains sound with all spokes firmly attached at both the hub and the rim.
