Lot 100: A Set of Crown Tools Woodturning Lathe Chisels

A set of woodturning lathe tools, featuring metal blades fitted to turned wooden handles. The collection includes six tools: a large roughing gouge, a spindle gouge, a parting tool, a skew chisel, and a scraper. Each tool is constructed with a metal blade, and the handles are secured with brass ferrules at the junction between the metal and the wood. The wooden handles are finished with a dark stain. The tools are housed in a shop-made pine storage rack. Each handle bears a gold-coloured printed mark within an oval border, reading CROWN TOOLS at the bottom, SHEFFIELD ENGLAND at the top, and featuring a crown symbol in the centre. Above the oval, the text reads HIGH SPEED STEEL and MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND. On the smaller handles, the text H.S.S is also visible. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are present.
