A Bank of England one pound banknote, series K, featuring a green and multicoloured design. The obverse depicts a seated Britannia vignette within a decorative cartouche to the left and the denomination 1 POUND within a geometric frame to the right. The printed legend reads BANK OF ENGLAND, I PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND THE SUM OF ONE POUND, followed by the location LONDON and the printed signature P. S. BEALE for the Governor and Company of the Bank of England. The serial number B83C 169359 is printed in red in the upper right and lower left. The reverse displays an architectural vignette of the Bank of England building at Threadneedle Street, framed by elaborate acanthus leaf scrolls and two circular medallions depicting St George and the Dragon. The signature of P. S. Beale identifies the tenure of the Chief Cashier between 1949 and 1955.

Condition report:

The banknote shows signs of significant circulation, including a heavy vertical centre fold and light horizontal creasing. There is minor rounding to the corners and general toning and soiling visible, particularly along the edges. No pinholes, tears, or repairs are visible. The paper retains its original texture despite the folds.
