Not sold
A collection of one hundred UK commemorative crowns, primarily featuring cupro-nickel issues from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The group includes multiple 1977 Silver Jubilee crowns featuring a reverse design of the coronation ampulla and spoon within a floral wreath, and an equestrian portrait of the Queen on the obverse. Also present are several 1965 Winston Churchill commemorative crowns inscribed ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F. D. 1965 on the obverse with a portrait of Churchill on the reverse. The collection further contains 1972 Silver Wedding anniversary crowns, one of which is housed in a green plastic case printed 1947 H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II H.R.H. THE PRINCE PHILIP DUKE OF EDINBURGH 1972 SILVER WEDDING CROWN. Other issues identified include the 1981 Marriage of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer commemorative crown and the 1953 Coronation crown. The coins are constructed from cupro-nickel white metal and feature milled edges. The lot includes items stored in plastic sleeves, acrylic cases, and loose stacks.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit varying degrees of circulation wear and environmental exposure. Several pieces, particularly the Churchill and 1977 Jubilee issues, show significant copper-coloured toning and surface tarnish on both the obverse and reverse faces. Fine surface scratches and contact marks are visible across the fields of the loose coins. The majority of the collection is presented without individual protective capsules, though select examples remain in plastic sleeves or original presentation cases.
